Who writes and checks the pages
Program pages are written by Beta's ALW team. Each page is checked against the official sources it lists before it is published. Guides name the reviewer: Sergio B., Program Coordinator. Who writes and reviews these pages.
Information, not advice
These pages give general information about California's Assisted Living Waiver (ALW). They are not legal advice or benefits advice. Nothing here is an eligibility decision or a promise of enrollment.
Who decides
DHCS decides ALW eligibility, after the nurse assessment, and when an opening is released. Your county decides your Medi-Cal application. Each home decides its own admissions. Beta cannot change those decisions.
Sources first
We start from the official source: DHCS, the California Department of Social Services, state law and the public record. Program pages list their sources. Where a page and an official source differ, the source controls. How we source the figures.
How dates are shown
- Guides show the date their facts were last checked. If the words change later without a new check, the page also shows the date it was updated.
- Data pages show the date the figures were read from the state file.
- Program updates show the date they were published and the date the change took effect.
No paid placement
Homes do not pay to be listed or shown. Beta does not rank homes or agencies. No one at Beta may accept a payment or a gift for a referral or a placement.
