The Assisted Living Waiver (ALW) runs in 15 California counties. Beta coordinates ALW care in all fifteen: Alameda, Contra Costa, Fresno, Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara and Sonoma. On the DHCS list you'll see us as Beta Hospice Care, the name we are listed under. ALW care coordination is a separate service, and asking about ALW doesn't involve hospice in any way.
Important: A county page can tell you whether Beta's ALW team is currently listed to do ALW care coordination there, which local offices to call, and which homes take ALW. It can't tell you whether your family member is eligible, when the state will release an opening (the state calls it a slot), whether a home has an open bed or will accept them, whether a home can meet their needs, or a move-in date, those come only through the official steps, and we'll tell you when they happen.

Moving from another county
You can start learning about ALW before your family member lives in one of these counties; to take part, they have to be willing to live in a county where ALW operates. The eligibility guide has the full rules.
When weighing a move, think about who will visit, which doctors they'd keep, transportation, language, and whether the home can meet the needs the nurse assessment identifies.
