Before you begin

What you will be able to do

  • For a new hire or a certified nurse assistant, state the dementia-care hours owed before independent work, within four weeks and each year, exactly as sections 1569.625 and 1569.626 set them.
  • When a resident with dementia acts in a new way, check and report the physical signs section 87705 names, and leave diagnosis and medicine to the licensed professional.
  • At an exit, follow the alert, delayed-egress and locked-door conditions of section 87705, and after an elopement make each report it names, on time.
  • In a home with fewer than sixteen residents, tell from the appraisal, a reappraisal or observation when one night staff person must be awake, and never count a device as staff.
  • Before teaching or repeating a dementia rule, check it against the current text and guidance on the CDSS dementia-care page.
