Before you begin

What you will be able to do

  • When someone may be in danger, act on safety first, using the site’s emergency process and 911 when it applies, before any form.
  • For one event, name each reporting branch that may apply and check each one on its own, not as one form.
  • Write a note that keeps the person’s words apart from what you saw, gives times and actions, and draws no conclusion about guilt.
  • Before a report goes out, check the setting, the concern and any urgency factor against current sources and your employer’s reviewed decision aid.
  • Close the loop on each report: record what went where, when and how, keep the proof, escalate any failure and share only the minimum needed.
