Before you begin

What you will be able to do

  • Plan a new direct-care hire's first four weeks so that twenty hours, with six dementia hours and four special-conditions hours inside them, are done before she works independently with residents.
  • Set each staff member's yearly training to the statutes: twenty hours with eight dementia and four special-conditions hours, plus eight medication in-service hours for each medication helper.
  • Check a medication helper's training against section 1569.69: the hours for the home's licensed size, shadowing before assisting, the exam, the repeat rules and the trainer's qualifications.
  • Accept or refuse a trainer, a training material or a licensed professional's exemption against section 87411(c) and section 1569.625(d).
  • Keep personnel and training records that show the trainer, subjects, dates and hours, at the facility, for at least three years after employment ends.
