What changed

DHCS Policy Letter 26-002, dated September 25, 2026, clarifies how ALW claims are submitted and paid. Claims are payable only for enrolled participants and for approved services. The letter also addresses internal audits.

Care Coordination Agencies must verify each participant's ALW enrollment status in MedCompass and send an Informing Notice to the participant's facility or home health agency.

Who it affects

Care Coordination Agencies, and the assisted-living facilities and home health agencies that bill ALW.

What to do

Nothing changes for participants and families. Providers should read the letter, linked under Sources, and apply it to their claims.
